If you pass your driving test at the age of 17 your driver’s licence will be valid until you are 70 years old. At that point you will be asked to certify that you are medically fit to drive still and your new licence will be issued. Every 3 years after this you will be asked to self certify yourself medically fit for a new licence to be issued. But when is it time to hang up the keys and stop driving?

Jackie (Leeds)
I really can not thank Jayne enough for all of her hard work & patience. Jayne went above & beyond the scope of \"driving instructor\", she was flexible, friendly & put me at ease immediately. Jayne even replied to a text at 7am on a Sunday morning!! In her ususal bubbly manner.
I cannot thank Jayne enough, I was a nervous wreck & can honestly say if I had got a run of the mill instructor, I would still be trying to pass.
I can not recommend Ignition Driving School enough & if you´re in the Yorkshire area definitely ask for Jayne, you´ll be glad you did
Thanks again guys, for everything x
Driving Lessons
The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) has found that candidates who are more successful on test day are those that have had approximately 45 hours worth of professional driving lessons combined with approximately 22 hours worth of private practice. Driving schools can have a reputation for keeping you learning to drive for longer than is necessary. We pride ourselves to be amongst one of the professional driving schools who don´t! Research into our own pupils has shown that on average a pupil learning to drive with an Ignition Driving Schools instructor passes their driving test upon having just 34 hours worth of driving lessons, which is 11 hours FEWER than the national average.
We provide driving lessons 7 days a week to fit around your other commitments and rest assured, all our driving lessons do last a FULL hour. Moreover, to ensure that you gain maximum benefit from your driving tuition, it is our policy not to "piggy-back" driving lessons. Piggy-backing is a system used by some driving schools where the next pupil is picked up on YOUR driving lesson time.
If you are pushed for time then an intensive driving course could be the right course for you. We can offer intensive driving courses including a practical test and 10 hours worth of driving lessons starting from £260. If you´re looking for an all-inclusive intensive driving course however, we can offer 10 hours worth of driving lessons from £290, which includes all theory materials, a theory test and a practical driving test.
In addition to these popular intensive driving courses, we also offer standard hourly courses at competitive rates and block booking discounts, so whichever way you choose to learn you´re guaranteed to get great value for money. Once you have passed your driving test, then you may wish to consider doing motorway lessons as this is one area that is not covered during your normal course of lessons. Alternatively why not enhance your hazard perception skills further with a Pass Plus course?
Not many driving schools reward you for your loyalty but now with our cool loyalty card scheme you can receive high street vouchers up to the value of £105 for recommending friends and family to the school. So now you can learn to drive in style!
Some driving schools simply teach you the skills needed to get through a driving test, but learning to drive is much more than that. The skills you will learn on one of our intensive driving courses or one of our hourly driving lesson courses will be with you for the rest of your life and with so many driving schools to choose from it is difficult to know which driving school to pick. As you would expect from professional driving schools in your area we work very closely with the DSA to ensure that your driving lessons are conducted to the highest level, from our welcome packs to our free theory test papers and hazard perception clips we are with you every step of the way.

Keep Safe this Winter
Ignition Driving School wishes to remind drivers to keep safe this winter. We can become too complacent and comfortable in our cars that we forget how changeable the weather is. No one needs reminding about how bad the road conditions were in the winter of 2010 / 2011 and a little planning and preparation can make winter driving a little easier to manage. Here’s the Ignition Driving School’s guide to keeping safe on Britain’s roads this winter:

Getting a grip on tyres
In 2012, across the whole of Europe, compulsory tyre labelling will be enforced, to show customers the noise, fuel economy and wet grip efficiency of the tyres they are about to buy. This label on the tyres will be displayed as a rating similar to the current energy rating on white goods such as fridges, and is hoped to help people become more informed and responsible about the tyres they are purchasing.
